And they will be ‘dropping’ into BikeWise again….

AS "Dropping" into BikeWise once again will be the North East Air Support Unit from Newcastle.
The aircraft will be 'based' at Police HQ Durham during the day but will leave if any incidents need it's support.
The unit was originally formed in 1995 - the same year that BikeWise originated and has provided some fantastic service to the residents of Northumbria, Durham & Cleveland over the years.
This will be a great opportunity to see the aircraft on the ground at close quarters instead of racing or hovering overhead.

You spin me right round.... (Well motorschool will)

Durham Constabulary's driver trainers will be out at BikeWise once again, showing you how a vehicle can react under adverse weather conditions with the aid of the skid pan.
If you've never experienced the skidpan - then make an effort to get to the show early to book your ride as there are only a limited amount of rides available throughout the day and it's an opportunity that you shouldn't miss.
The driver trainers are some of the best drivers in the country and you will be able to ask them any questions about driving.

Dog Section will be 'barking' at you..

Durham Constabulary's four legged '"friend's will once again be at BikeWise to show off their skills along with their handler's. The display by the dog section is always one of the most popular attractions at BikeWise as it give's everybody an opportunity to see what a valuable asset the dog's are to Police Officers during the course of their work.
Times of the displays will be posted closer to the date of the show.

John McGuinness & ‘Shakey’ Byrne will be at BikeWise 2011

John McGuinness on his TT Legends Honda superbike at Quarterbridge during final qualifying for the 2011 Isle of Man TT Shane Byrne - HM Plant Honda

17 Times TT winner & Honda TT Legends team member & BSB championship leader, HM Plant Honda’s Shane ‘Shakey’ Byrne will both be at BikeWise 2011 along with Honda team manager Havier Beltran who will be bringing the HM Plant rig and the bikes from the Honda HQ at Louth.

John will be flying off to Japan the following day to compete at the next world endurance race at Suzuka

Sadly, HM Plant Superstock rider, Jason O’Halloran will not be there as he is still in hospital after a crash at Knockhill and Riuchi Kiyonari will be back home in Japan, preparing for Suzuka.

Twister to rock BikeWise 2011

Twister are a young, four piece, energetic pop/rock band based in Durham. Twister have been together for about 6 years, and in November 2009 released their debut album ' Someone's Gotta Lie'.

In 2010 Twister entered the Surface Unsigned festival in which they came second out of 12,000 bands at the national final at the IndigO2 in London. At the beginning of 2011 Twister decided to release a brand new track and give all the proceeds to charity. In the process of which a television company got wind of what the band were doing and decided to help promote it. “Charlie’s Fallen” is due for release on Monday 9th May 2011 on all good Download websites, and of course from www.officialtwister.info ...

Reviews from Surface Unsigned (Birmingham) 2008

Kicking off the last evening of the first round of Surface Unsigned 2008 was Durham based four-piece Twister. Their sound is upbeat, melodic Indie-Pop-Rock that incorporates elements of Garage-Rock and Blues to create an exciting noise that’s distinctive and original enough to sound relevant, yet instantly likeable and wholly accessible. It’s a tricky balance to get right, yet the band manage it well thanks to a real skill for writing witty, memorable Indie-Pop tracks and the intensity that they put in onstage coming across loud and clear in their music.
The third band of the afternoon was Durham based four-piece Twister. A sound that mixes contemporary Indie-Pop, Alt-Rock and Classic Rock n Roll, they’ve found a direction that really works for them and within which they have written some strong hook-ridden material with a solid range. Seemingly most comfortable, and undoubtedly at their strongest in their rockier moments – they’ve got some excellent anthems-in-the-makings complete with catchy heavy riffs, punchy beats, excellent use of layer/call-response vocals and sing-along choruses.

2011 Ducati Roadshow at BikeWise 2011

logo-Ducati The demonstrator fleet showcases the 2011 range including the new and much heralded Diavel. Aswell as the Diavel, the Multistrada 1200 will undoubtedly be a popular choice to test ride as this ‘four-bikes-in-one’ has wowed many with its performance, versatility and technological advancement.

13986Although the Multistrada will be the beacon of attention for many, it will not be overshadowed by a test fleet that includes the iconic Monsters, including the new 1100 Evo, the Hypermotard 796 and 1100 Evo, the muscular Streetfighter and the fleet  would not be complete without its majestic Superbikes including the stunning 1198 range and the cornering gem that is the 848 Evo.

To take a test ride at any of these events, riders must have a valid motorcycle licence (both parts required) and appropriate clothing and safety gear. Local dealership staff will be on hand to give expert technical and service advice and trained riders will be there to guide all test rides.

X-Treme Motorcycle Stunt Trials Display

Xtreme Trials

Appearing for the first time at BikeWise 2011 - The X-Treme Motorcycle Stunt Trials Display Team, who are based at Keighley and consists of two of the world’s best stunt riders, a professional compere and a mobile stunt unit which is the focal point of the show. The team was formed back in 1998 after the germ of an idea by two of Europe’s top young riders, Martin Crosswaite and Dan Clark.

The show consists of 15ft jumps up vertical walls, amazing ‘drop offs’, a full range of freestyle tricks, some of which can only be attempted by a handful of riders throughout the world, wheelies (back and front wheel!) plus other spectacular stunts which, combined with the showmanship and humour the show offers, will leave the audience in disbelief of what they have just witnessed.
